Only the error current of this current transformer will pass through the compensation winding. The voltage drop across the compensation winding is consequently very small. Inherently the shield is excited so that induced voltage per turn in the secondary winding is equal to the leakage impedance voltage drop per turn and the most desirable result is obtained. Everywhere in the secondary winding, which has a large number of turns, the potential is the same and no capacitive currents are present.
