If for no other reason than this, there has to be a state in a market economy to enforce agreements. As with anarchy and authoritative determination, markets are found throughout social interactions, even in socialist and communist states - partly because, like these other decisional mechanisms, they can generate decisions inexpensively.

From this brief comparison of markets and voting as systems of allocation, it should be apparent that there are major limitations to both of them.
