In all the determinations, the phagocytic cells were isolated at 09:00 h. 7 pg/ml and 7 pg/ml in the stressed animal group. All determinations were accompanied by a control sample free from hormone. Corticostewne 4-pregnene-ll,21-diol-3,20-dione (Sigma) was prepared in PBS solution, starting from a base solution of 100 mg/100 ml, which was followed by diluting working solutions to 2 /xg/ml and 20 /xg/ml for the basal animals and to 5 ixglwX and 50 fig/ml for the stressed animal group. All determinations were accompanied by a control sample free from hormone.
