If you selected automatic downloads and automatic updates, you won’t need to do anything. If your computer is on a network domain, you may not be able to do the automatic updates. It will depend on your network settings. note To set up the automatic updates, you must have administrator access for Windows XP. In Windows XP Home Edition, you must be logged on as the administrator. See Task 213 for viewing and changing an account’s access rights. cross-reference If you want to install a specific update, you can use the manual installation process as shown in Task 18.

If the Automatically Synchronize With An Internet Time Server check box is not selected, the information on the screen will be protected (“grayed out” and cannot be modified).
