The following is a list of responses. ▼ Positive authoritative ■ Positive ■ Referral ▲ Negative A positive authoritative response indicates that the information returned is from an authoritative source. A positive or positive nonauthoritative response indicates that information returned is valid but was obtained from a nonauthoritative server. A referral is the IP address of another DNS server that is more suitable for handling the request. A negative response indicates that an authoritative source determined that either the domain name in the request does not exist, or the specified node does not exist.
