Quick measurements take much less time and use relatively simple, affordable instruments—an advantage that allows surface cleanliness to be measured directly at the workstation. But to give reliable information, such instruments need to be calibrated by the use of substrate surfaces with reference properties. This makes measurements much more complex because in this case individual reference surfaces are required for each type of contamination. The use of quick-measurement instruments also necessitates cleaning the indenter probe’s surface with special techniques [18] or using special liquids as a source of information about the surface cleanliness of substrates [19,20].
